Client Service at Pape Communications is probably different from anything you have experienced at other advertising agencies.

What makes us different? We hire people who are well schooled in an aspect of advertising, such as media buying, copywriting or research, and we place them in “client service” part time and their “department” the rest of the week. This means that we have no “account executives” or “client service reps” trained to be nice to clients.

We simply select advertising professionals who are nice people. We ask them to “listen to the clients and help solve their problems. If the client’s problem is not something in your expertise, tap the talents of the other people on your team.” It works surprisingly well: clients who were with us when we started in 1988 are still active in 2008.
